It may come as surprise to London commuters but one quarter of international travellers surveyed by TripAdvisor picked the capital as the easiest city to get around, beating both New York (16 per cent) and Paris (12 per cent). London cabbies also topped the poll for the world's best cab services, leaving New York, Mexico City and Paris floundering at the bottom of the table. However, nearly a quarter of the 2000 respondents questioned also considered London's public transport to be the most expensive. And if you're doing business in America let's hope it's in Washington DC – it was voted fourth overall and was judged to have the cleanest and safest public transport system.
