Housed in a former 16th century school and prayer room, Alexander’s maximises the experience of dining out. The restaurant is dominated by a large mahogany fireplace. Dark wooden panelling, high beamed ceilings and leaded windows enhance the room’s character. The brasserie at the rear of Alexander’s, a lunchtime favourite with business executives and their guests, is a more casual and contemporary venue with a small lounge where diners can enjoy a pre meal aperitif. Dishes here are familiar and comforting – Potted Pork, Rib-Eye Steak and Treacle Tart, for example.Menus in the restaurant, however, are a real dining experience. Among Head Chef Simon Attridge’s tantalising offerings are Hand Dived Scallops, Roasted Foi Gras and Noisette of Veal. Â
