From October 1st the new Working Time (Amendment) Regulations come into force which could see extra holidays for some workers. The new rules on holiday entitlement will increase statutory holidays to 5.6 weeks minimum, including the eight bank and public holidays. For full time workers this equates to 28 days a year. At present workers receive a minimum of four weeks (20 days), but in some cases this includes the bank holidays. This doesn't automatically mean you will get every bank holiday off - but if you do have to work you'll be entitled to time off in lieu. The increase will be coming into effect in two stages - October 1st - with an additional 0.8weeks - and then a further 0.8 weeks from 1 April 2009.
