Business travellers flying with Qantas will be delighted to hear that from late 2008 new technology will mean its passengers on domestic aircraft can send and receive email and SMS via mobile telephones or personal electronic devices. “An overwhelming majority of passengers involved in the evaluation indicated they wanted access to in-flight connectivity on an ongoing basis” commented Qantas Executive General Manager, John Borghetti, “this next generation technology will allow them to use their in-flight time more effectively.” The airline has partnered with AeroMobile, who has developed the technology allowing mobile phones and portable devices to be used safely in-flight without interfering with the aircraft’s systems or communications network.
