Poor sales have impacted on Air New Zealand who is axing its trans-Tasman services between Hamilton and Sydney and the Gold Coast, following disappointing sales. From March next year the three times weekly service to Sydney and the twice weekly Gold Coast route will be dropped. Sources at the airline have blamed the low demand and poor economic climate and remarked on the fact that the Sydney route has been operating only half full over the last six months. With figures like that it’s easy to see why the carrier is reigning in its services until hopefully fuel costs settle down and demand picks up.
