How do you plan to use your annual leave in 2010? Well data collected by Tourism Research Australia reveals that one in four Aussie workers fail to take their annual entitlement - with some 123million unused leave days having been accrued in the last year.
The total value of domestic tourism has dropped four per cent, while Australians spent six per cent less than the previous year on interstate travel. While many workers may consider they are too busy to take their holiday leave it could actually be in their interest to take regular breaks from work. With more and more of us taking on extra responsibilities and working longer hours and weekends the need to recharge our batteries with a week or two break from the office is growing.
And those who do opt to forego their holiday leave may find they are less enthusiastic in their attitude to work, more stressed and a good deal less productive than those who do plan time away from the workplace.
