It’s good to see so many of Australia’s top hotels participating in Earth Hour 2009, the initiative aimed at highlighting the growing concerns for the environment. Across the country the city skylines dimmed as hotels and attractions turned off their lights, neon signs and various other electrical appliances for an hour. The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) estimates that around 80 per cent of major accommodation hotels took part in the scheme. Hotels also took the opportunity to hand out information leaflets to guests to show them small changes they can make that can have a big impact.
