The Government has announced a $200million plan to boost airports’ defenses against terrorists… and that means full body scans. The full body scans have already been causing some controversy as passengers express concerns over human rights and the use of the scans. In some countries refusal to accept the full body scans means passengers will not be allowed to fly, but in Australia The Queensland Council for Civil Liberties is suggesting travelers should be able to opt out of scanning and choose a pat down instead. As well as the scans, a rise in the number of police and sniffer dogs at airports is expected to help increase security presence. While some passengers will be pleased to see new measures introduced others will not. But it’s likely everyone will be against the suspected ticket price rises which industry sources are predicting as a result of the changes.
