Auckland Airport has been recognised for its commitment to sustainable and ethical business practices by EarthCheck - a leading sustainable travel certification programme.
The airport’s operational data was compared to a similar organisation to asses it for best practice in key environmental indicators such as energy and water consumption, total waste production and community involvement and commitment. As well as being awarded the Bronze Benchmarked status the airport was also able to identify where changes could be made to better enhance their environmental considerations. Martin Fryer Sustainability Advisor said “We are absolutely delighted to be awarded Bronze Benchmarked status. Over the past three years Auckland Airport has worked very hard to move towards more sustainable business practice. Receiving validation from EarthCheck, the only global sustainable tourism programme, provides recognition to the whole company for a continued commitment to sustainability.”
