Working with friends sounds like it could be a recipe for disaster, but studies show that a social environment can actually improve productivity.

According to studies of workplaces in the UK, employees are more likely to work productively when they are in a social environment of friends who are more able than themselves, than when they work alone. This is however, a complex balance and the results are the opposite when employees work with friends who are less able than themselves. While working with a team of friends is beneficial for morale, if workers do not surround themselves with the right type of people it could be detering their application to tasks.
