So entrenched in our lives has technology become that Aussies now rate access to the internet as more important than transport links.

A study by The Buzz Insurance has revealed people’s priorities – with 83 per cent of people declaring it the most desirable asset compared to 69 per cent of respondents who felt that well serviced public transport was most important. It’s fair to say that the Internet can take people places. Clever PAs can experience first class venues from the comfort of their office without ever stepping foot on a bus or a train. They can get the low down on the boss’s favourite restaurant at the click of a button – but surely nothing beats really getting somewhere and experiencing it first hand; and that means public transport for most. Also of note is the fact that 66 per cent of people said a key priority of the area they live in is its close proximity to work.
