Sadly, it’s rarely possible for PAs to have it all – but when asked whether they would prefer a bigger salary but less sleep or more sleep but a smaller salary most people opted for the extra cash

The study, from Cornell University asked respondents asked what would make people happier – being paid US$150,000 but working long hours with just six hours sleep, or a salary of US$80,000 but for a job that would enable them to get an extra hour and a half of sleep a night. It’s interesting to see that people still equal money with happiness – in the above example the difference in salary is significant, while the trade off (the extra sleep) is fairly minimal.

According to Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman people need to earn US$75,000 a year – and any money earned over and above that does not contribute to our perception of happiness. So, what would make you happier in your role? More money? Fewer hours? Better perks? Flexible working? Let us know
