Results of a new survey have revealed what the perfect job would involve for Aussies.

According to the New Work Project survey the majority of respondents hate their commute – with many saying they arrive for work already stressed and then have to deal with looming deadlines, time-wasting meetings and constant interruptions. But given the opportunity to shape their own role many say they’d dodge the dreaded rush hour, allocate time for a lunchtime siesta to recharge the batteries and include a workday workout – plus when they need a time-out day the boss will approve it. Although siestas, exercise time and time-out days were the three most popular forms of creative leave, the prospect of a four day week, doing 10 hours a day, was also popular. Over a third of all respondents also said they’d like a day off for their birthday too. But it’s not all take – more than 40 per cent of people said they’d be happy to take a pay cut in return for more flexibility in how they work.
