Unsurprisingly, Hotel Bellevue Palace Bern’s on-site restaurant, VUE, tops the list. Awarded 16 points by the influential Gault Millau restaurant guide (which rates on a scale from one up to 20), it’s considered one of the most exquisite gourmet restaurants in the city. Chef Gregor Zimmermann and his team prepare classic yet modern cuisine that’s inspired by the brasseries of France and combines culinary delicacies with a sophisticated concept of sharing dishes.

The Granary (Kornhauskeller), with its beautifully painted vaulted cellar, accommodates the sophisticated attitude to life and the cosmopolitan spirit. Here, they cultivate original Italian cuisine, as well as traditional Swiss dishes with local specialities, such as the Bernese platter – a typical hearty meal with sauerkraut, beans, potatoes, ham, bacon and spare ribs.

It’s a trendy culinary oasis where guests can enjoy an after work drink on the deck, as well as modern Mediterranean and Asian specialties.

The main attraction of the five-star superior Hotel Schweizerhof Bern is the legendary Jack’s Brasserie, which has been highly commended by the influential French restaurant guide, Gault Millau. The team use the freshest market ingredients to offer up great Schweizerhof classics, such as Jack’s Wiener Schnitzel, served up in a typical traditional atmosphere. Also popular for lunch are the seasonally changing dishes, served from circulating trolleys.
