The Australian Museum may not usually be thought of as somewhere to host your events, but the recent member event has changed all those perceptions.
Guests to the Australian Museum’s member event were treated to welcome drinks which were served on arrival in Westpac Long Gallery while they had the opportunity to view the exhibition 200 Treasures of the Australian Museum. Guests were then taken on a venue highlights tour, viewing the most popular gallery spaces for hire including Wild Planet and First Australians.
The guests were then split into three groups and surprised with a behind-the-scenes tour visiting the collections of Malacology (molluscs & shells), Ornithology (birds) and Marine Invertebrates (lobsters & crabs) with real scientists, researchers and collection managers.
After a quick tour the guests were taken to the Museum’s rooftop venues, No.1 William and Harbour View Room & Terrace, to enjoy canape’s and martinis and experience a Touch Table – a variety of collection items out for guests to interact with.
The evening was a success, with guest thoroughly enjoying themselves in the unique venues the museum has to offer. Guests raved about the behind the scenes tours – many didn’t know the Australian Museum is also an active research institute with a collection of over 18 million objects!
Here’s what our members had to say…
“Thank you very much for hosting me last night at what was a thoroughly engaging and well executed event.
The food and beverage selection and presentation, along with the ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the collection were highlights.
I will certainly share my experience among my network and consider the museum to host suitable events in the future,” Derek Wiseman, Brendan Byrne
“Fabulous space – a number of us were thinking it would be perfect for a board dinner – more intimate – and point of difference of having tour of the museum.
Also, personally loved the touch of having the harpist and the string quartet,” Anna Magill.
What the organisers had to say…
“We partnered with Executive PA because we wanted to host a special event for prospective clients who were genuinely interested in the Museum’s unique spaces. We had a great group of people who seemed to enjoy the evening. First, we visited several of our most popular exhibition galleries, and then guests had a rare and exclusive behind the scenes looks at some of the Museums science and collections, before making their way to our roof-top function room with views across the city,” Commercial Manager for Australian Museum, Serafina Froio
Being able to hold events in exhibition galleries among some of the most valuable and important objects anywhere in the world is perhaps one of Sydney best kept secrets. The PA’s who attended have also had a rare insight into other aspects of what the Australian Museum does, and can provide as additional layers to catered functions which can elevate them to unforgettable experiences for guests.”
